The objective of VEX Robotics STEM Course is to use a hand-ons approach to introduce the basic concepts in robotics, focusing on mobile robots. Topics include motor control, gear ratios, torque, friction, sensors, timing, electronic speed controls and r/c controls. Students will learn how to design robots for specific activities and scenarios. Robots include Lego’s Robotics, VEX robotics and custom homemade robotics. The course aims for students to learn to think like engineers to learn to break down complex problems into simpler, to model and describe what they want something to do, to se failure as an essential opportunity to learn rather than as a judgement upon their ability.
